The knowledge from this 1908 book will find you when you’re ready. Reality as we know it is far larger and more all-encompassing that you may have ever considered. In fact, by the gift of rationality and reason, we can discern that the eternal multiverse is one giant imagination. Furthermore, Hermetic secret societies have passed down priceless knowledge from Ancient Egypt about our true nature. The universe is comprised of vibrating beings, situated at various levels of power over the flows of fate. These entities are still mortal compared to The All (i.e. God). They were once-human souls, and simply learned how to ascend to the next levels spiritually. The Kybalion kindly requests that the reader not cast pearls before swine, sharing this priceless knowledge on the universe’s inner workings with unworthy listeners. So be prudent when spreading it, lest you turn against the tides of fate!
“Mastery consists not in abnormal dreams, visions and fantastic imaginings or living, but in using the higher forces against the lower – escaping the pains of the lower planes by vibrating on the higher.”
There are many good bosses out there and even some great ones. Yet there are some who go beyond great, who can not only effectively manage people, but turn them into great leaders themselves. They are Superbosses: people who, thanks to their unique, personal managing styles, are also wellsprings of talent. They often sit at the center of a web of excellence, intentionally cultivating a network of former superstar employees. Superbosses are people with personalities that stand out, and who take the time to work closely with the people under them. Superbosses have a unique knack for bringing out the best in their underlings. The people who work for a Superboss will often either happily stay with them for years, or go on to become major players themselves. If you find a person who has had an incredible career and maintains strong ties to the people they’ve worked with, it’s likely they are (or have worked for) a Superboss. This book explores just what exactly makes those bosses super, and shows how to bring out the Superboss in yourself!
“It is this strange, seemingly impossible blend of unshakable vision and openness to change that allows Superbosses to unleash a torrent of new ideas among their people, and in the process, drive their own extraordinary business success.”
Manipulation is the act and technique of getting someone to do something that they would not necessarily choose to do of their own volition. It is often referred to negatively, a characterization of sociopaths. However, you can learn to manipulate yourself positively, for example by asking your negative emotions what they want until they dissipate. Or perhaps tricking yourself into succeeding by assuming it’s inevitable. Yet this book also analyzes the signs and red flags that manipulators will use against you, delving into their thinking patterns. For example, one manipulation technique is to intentionally portray yourself as a knowledgeable, trustworthy, expert in order to put others into a more receptive state for a favor. Another example could be giving free favors and then expecting reciprocation at a later date.
“Controlling the mind of another does not mean depriving them of free will and conscious thought. It means knowing what to say to impact the other person so profoundly they cannot see any other way to go but the one proposed.”
Betsy Lerner went from having no idea what she would do after college to becoming one of the most recognized editors in her field. By intimately involving herself in her authors’ lives, she gained knowledge of writers’ processes and characteristics, as well as learning what makes or breaks a writer. In this book, Lerner hopes to teach beginning writers, regardless of age, about the publishing process from the editor’s viewpoint. She also aims to teach authors about the writing process, handling rejection, and turning their personalities into sources of strength instead of sabotage.
“A natural facility with language does not necessarily mean a natural ability to communicate ideas that find currency in the culture.”
